The last month of Hindu year is known as "Ashwin" or "Aaso". She has been popular in India as she entertains Indians in nearly 10 pious days of Indian Hindus known as Navratri (Nine nights). He’s doing very well in the industry.Falguni Pathak is a Hindi singer and performing artist from India. She was born in Baroda and now after marriage, she is based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay, but with a strong affinity towards the traditional music of the Indian state of Gujarat, she has, since her professional debut in 1998, developed into a leading Indian pop personality sometimes called the "Queen of Dandiya". Who is your favourite artiste from the current crop?
I’m loving it! I enjoy the kind of songs that are being produced these days. What do you have to say about the changing sounds of Bollywood? If I receive an offer, I would love to be a part of it. I love all the songs that they’ve come out with. Plus, there’s too much competition in the industry.īeing a folk artiste yourself, what do you have to say about the music shows that highlight experimental music? Would you be interested in being a part of such projects? I’m not the kind of person who will get into this bhaag-daud (chaotic life).
I never sincerely pursued a career in Bollywood. Unlike your contemporaries, such as singers Mohit Chauhan, KK and Shaan, you never ventured into Bollywood playback singing. But yes, maybe after this Navratri season, I’ll think about one. Music records don’t support artistes anymore there’s no money in albums. Why haven’t you released one in the past decade? You shot to fame with your Indipop albums. In fact, it was in here that I attended a Navratri show for the first time in 1987. So it’s great to be back, also because Ghatkopar has a sizeable Gujarati population. All this while, the organisers that I have been associated with the past many years never hosted a show in that part of the city. I always wanted to perform there and I’m excited to be playing this year. Why did it take you so long to sing for the audiences there? You will be performing in the central suburbs (Ghatkopar) for the first time. In this interview, Falguni, who delivered chartbusters like ‘Yaad piya ki aane lagi’ and ‘Maine payal hai chhankai’ in the late ’90s, talks about keeping a low profile and her upcoming projects. Any musician will tell you how her indefatigable energy on stage and performances that last several hours are considered benchmarks for aspiring artistes. Die-hard fans travelled to Gujarat in 2010 when she forsook Mumbai to perform in the state.
The singer hasn’t earned the moniker of Dandiya Queen for nothing. Yet, the kind of hysteria Falguni Pathak generates among her fans around this time every year, when she comes out of hibernation, is astounding. She’s got no Bollywood hits to her credit and her last Indipop album released almost a decade ago.
